I had a few days to spare so I thought I would expend a bit of energy on a new theme. In fact, a new style of theme altogether. I have written a couple of themes now, mainly all in the same kind of genre as everyone else who is writing themes. Always vertical, straight down the page. Now I don’t like scrolling horizontally using the browser’s scrollbars, but this was something different.
Based on 13thparallel’s old column code, I changed it to accomodate the WordPress blog system. It ISN’T straightforward. Your visitors MUST have JavaScript enabled to use this. Also, you will have to do a little bit of editing if you want to get the menu system to show your own About Me page (assuming you have one). I also added some random links at the very begining, which you can remove or alter as you wish, as you can see here.
Installation
First, this theme requires WordPress 1.5+ Once you have downloaded the theme, unzip it and:
- Upload the unzipped theme to your
wp-content/themes/directory. - Enter your Admin panel -> Presentation and select the theme.
Frequently Asked Questions
None so far! It is a simple unzip, install and off you go. You can edit the theme as you wish (it IS commented a little bit). If you have any questions, you can comment here, or you can go over to the WordPress Forums where I started a Horizontal Theme thread.
