Project: HP2HT
Saturday June 28, 2008
HP2HT stands for “Helping People to Help Themselves” and it means just that. It’s an excellent idea of an agricultural cycle - helping orphans in the Philippines to grow their own food, using manure to fertilize the ground, growing the crops to feed the children and the livestock. More and more countries should take note of this really, as this is the way it was done for thousands of years in the past and it might come back to that sooner than we think - this is sustainable agriculture at its best.
The theme is a highly customised two-column WordPress theme. It has several extras such as the three boxes along the bottom, customised 404 pages, article pages, archives, and so on. It has an ecommerce module on it too, allowing donations to Helping People to Help Themselves, and it
There is an attached flickr module too, allowing the owners of the site to post new photos of the orphans and their building project, to let donors see the progress.

Nice job rich.
John Raul is in the Philippines and he has given me a video tour of his neighborhood. I have to say that I was shocked at the way they live. I didn’t realize how poor the area was. I was in my place thinking just how lucky I was and how so many things that I took for granted.

Yeah it’s pretty poor, and they really need the help. Surprising that simple things like sustainable agriculture programs like that aren’t more widespread in such areas though.
