SEO for Joomla: Oil UK
Sunday December 30, 2007
Recently I’ve had the opportunity to perform some much needed SEO work on a Joomla-based website, OilUK. This has been somewhat of an experience for me, I am more used to WordPress blogs, not Joomla. That has not been an impediment however, and the SEO work has done well.
Although there is little similarity between the two packages, Joomla and WordPress, both allow the programmer to alter the templates for SEO purposes. The administrative backend for both are different of course, as are the methods for adding plugins, but both have ways of creating static “pages” (such as white oils or rust preventatives), and as is obvious, a method to edit them.
Overall though, I think that WordPress is a better system but that is based on my experiences. It is much easier to do SEO work on WordPress theme templates, rather than having to edit several sets of files with Joomla (template files and/or individual entries, and database entries if the Joomla is set up to grab data from a database).
