How Far Off is AI?
Saturday December 2, 2006
Well from this little story, I think we have a ways to go yet. Here’s what the neural network at the end of the tale finally produced (having being put to work doing prose):
The pig go. Go is to the fountain. The pig put foot. Grunt. Foot in what? ketchup. The dove fly. Fly is in sky. The dove drop something. The something on the pig. The pig disgusting. The pig rattle. Rattle with dove. The dove angry. The pig leave. The dove produce. Produce is chicken wing. With wing bark. No Quack.
How… poetic?

well there ya go. authors will never be replaced. It’s just like this whole (american) football thing, where just recently they’ve let a computer program start doing the rankings. Here’s a little snippet of what happened this year , and this is before we played LSU: LSU lost to auburn, Arkansas beat Auburn, and LSU got a higher ranking than us at that time. That doesn’t seem right, does it? Just like I heard a sports commentator say about that, “Show me a computer program that can determine who is a better author, stephen king or shakespeare, and I’ll agree with this.”
