Installing Both IE7 -and- IE6
Wednesday November 29, 2006
I had written about installing IE6 and IE7 a week or so back. I had followed Microsoft’s instructions to install the latest IE7 ‘update’ (in other words installing IE7 over IE6). This was good, for getting some familiarity with IE7 and I must say I am impressed.
The problem arose when designing web pages for a client and he said that something looked wonky in IE6. It was then I realised I had overwritten IE6 and didn’t know what to do. Could I install a standalone verion of IE6? Well the answer is yes, thankfully.
I went looking and here are the resources I came across, for some honourable mentions, they were very helpful:
- Tredosoft; what a great package this is - a multiple IE installer, with versions IE3, IE4.01, IE5, IE5.5, and IE6
- CFDan.com - another useful site with a link to getting the standalone version of IE6.
- Evolt standalone browsers - where CFDan above linked to. Great archive of ancient Explorer versions.
So to them, thank you. And to you, if you are reading this, good luck with installing IE6 as well as your IE7.

IE7 doesn’t seem to like Flash ActionScript very much.
If you go to my site you’ll notice it bog down to a slow crawl.
There’s always something with IE. ALWAYS!
