Interchangeable Advertisement
Sunday November 26, 2006
There must be something of a market for interchangeable advertising between all the english speaking countries.
The other day I was watching something on TV and on comes an advert for Febreze (the one where the guy is laying on the floor and the couples are guessing what he’s pretending to be). I looked at it for a minute, sat listening to the talking and thought there was something wrong with it. Then it clicked - I’d seen it before, in the US. It was probably produced there mind you, with American actors. Except, the version I was listening to had english actors’ voices dubbed over the top, it was very strange.
Made me wonder about how many other adverts get shipped over (either way) to save on production costs.

LOL, I’ve seen that commercial, and can’t imagine it with british accents.

It’s odd, but only because I’ve seen it with American accents. I think if you saw it for the first time here, you wouldn’t realise ‘cos the dubbing is so flawless.
