Melting Artillery Rounds
Monday October 16, 2006
Now, do you think that maybe that title would sound a little bit dangerous?
Melting an artillery round. Over fire. Heat. Explosives. Hmmm, you really have to missing a few brain cells to do that.
“We understand this man picked up a shell and tried to melt it for scrap. He put it in the fire and it exploded,” Francis Agwoka, acting police chief for the region, told Reuters by telephone.
“Two people were killed and seven others rushed to hospital critically injured. We are sealing off the area to look for more bombs.”
This is not exactly like people stepping on landmines in old warzones, because well, people know that artillery shells generally hold high explosives.
