Keep It Simple Stupid
Good rules to live by, work by, play by etc., That is of course, unless you’re dealing with computers. At work today one of the printers broke down. It was a *gasp* dot matrix. An Epson nonetheless, a usually sturdy and reliable brand.
After trying with all my heart to resurrect this piece of museum art, I finally grasped that the tractor feeder was not working. It would not work if the Archangel Gabriel were here doing his thing. Das ist kaput. So I suggested, why not get something a little more say, 21st century?
The reason why not? Because the dot matrix suffices for the job, printing out records. Why waste money on a more expensive printer and inks etc? He had a good point. I felt my technological back up against the wall. Why on earth would something so stupidly simple fit in well, and more absurdly, be perfect for the job.
I’m still trying to figure that out …
