That’s inevitable mind you, but what prompted me to write about it today is an article I found on popurls. This is someone else saying the same thing and asking, ‘Are you ready’, assuming you’re a website designer.
Yes it’s going to be a bit of pain in the arse, but frankly it’ll be more of a hassle going back through currently coded sites to retrofit it all for IE7. The rules are changing but let’s be honest here, IE7 isn’t suddenly going to be W3C compliant (totally).
For my part, I will have to do a little bit of recoding, and I’m gearing up for it. But I still believe Firefox is the better browser, regardless. It has taken how long for Microsoft to come out with a (more) W3C compliant browser? Years? In the meantime Firefox was released and has started gaining serious ground on Microsoft. They’re quicker to react, more accepting of criticism and reactive towards security problems (few and far between for Firefox compared to IE), nevermind the fact that the Firefox coders seems to be more innovative (the tab bar for example). This is however, because IE has not had any development for five years…
The author of that article does point out, quite rightly, that IE7 is not a fix-all. We still have a magnitude of people using IE5 (yes they’re out there somewhere), and those that will stick with IE6 because all is well as far as they are concerned.
So anyway after ALL this debate back and forth, is there anyplace we web designers can view a comprehensive list of what is going to be changing in the IE7 release?
