Computer Woes
Tuesday August 22, 2006
I’ve had the computer (laptop) that I’m using for oooh, 6 years now I think.
It has done me well, and lately it has been showing it’s age, slowing down, taking forever to boot up and generally acting like a geriatric of the computer world. What do you (I) expect for 6 years old though? Most computers are ‘past it’ after just two years…
Last night though, it had it. When it started booting up, it got to Network Connections and just sat there, it wouldn’t go any further. I suspect it’s about to fall apart so I’m going to start the process of ordering parts for a new desktop. The laptop will be relegated to powering my iPod, or a handheld, or something else as meaningless.
Bit of a pain though, I have work to do, and I need the laptop… I’ll try to re-install Win2K over the top tonight, see if it fixes it, and doesn’t ruin what work I have on there.
