It surprised me that local companies here in Lincolnshire are quite well informed about the basic Internet. But although that is the case, they either have no up-to-date website, or lack any kind of e-commerce aspects to that site.

Having said this, based on conversations with several local people, and my own experiences here at working on bringing up their own e-commerce side to their website, it seems that local businessmen ARE well acquainted with the possibilities that e-commerce can provide. It’s just that the web designers they have talked to either charge them way too much, or speak to them in techno-babble so alien it confuses and scares them off.

Don’t confuse this with a lack of technological prowess, it is merely a matter of catching up and joining the big companies in the online business market.
