So it seems that we have dislodged one brutal, uncompromising regime, to have it replaced by another. Gee, aint that wonderful? I mean we spent countless billions in the fight against a regime that would execute people willy-nilly on a football field, prosecute and brutalize women for showing their ankles, to now see a man, Abdul Rahman, prosecuted and possibly face a death penalty for converting to Christianity.

I have a lot of respect for the man for sticking to his principles, but apparently the word on “the street” in Afghanistan, fueled by religious figures (isn’t THAT a surprise) is that he will be beheaded regardless of the verdict against him. That’s nice. Always good to see religious leaders being completely bloodthirsty, cruel, vindictive and intolerant, don’t you think? And look, from our favorite religion of peace no less…

Do the muslim moderates of the world not realize that the West looks upon this as the face of Islam? On one hand Islam is “fair” and “tolerant” but it’s apparently ok to listen to Imams saying someone should be beheaded, adding more hatred to an already irate, ignorant and illiterate populace, to target someone who only wants to believe in God a different way… If the moderates think this is ok, then they are not moderates, they are just as conservative as those Imams and Mullahs.

If you think you want to do something about it, read Instapundit’s post, about a rally outside the Afghan Embassy. I should also mention a great post from The Daily Brief who quotes passages from the Koran which supports the freedom of a person to choose their religion. The Moderate Voice doesn’t rate Abdul’s chances very highly. Does anyone rate Condoleezza’s chances of getting anything done about it highly, either? Or getting him freed, for that matter…
