And we’re supposed to trust Iran?
Saturday October 29, 2005
A couple of days ago, the newly elected President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was accused of being one of the kidnappers who held Americans during the Iranian revolution, made inflammatory statements regarding Israel. Particularly, he said:
“As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map,” said Ahmadinejad, referring to Iran’s revolutionary leader Ayat Allah Khomeini.
But now Iran (note, not Ahmadinejad) is saying:
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to its U.N. charter commitments,” a Foreign Ministry statement read. “It has never used force against a second country or threatened the use of force.”
No but it does fund terror groups, who use force.
Even the former Iranian President Hashemi Rafsanjani is joining the soothing rhetoric, suggesting in his Friday prayer sermon that Israelis and Palestinians decide the future of their conflict in a referendum.
I’m curious here, haven’t Palestinians already AGREED to a deal? Haven’t they already got the Gaza Strip and other lands back?
Given that Iran is conducting nuclear research, and many nations of the world suspect that they are developing nuclear weapons, this isn’t encouraging news. And the muslim world wonders why the Western world looks upon them as radical and irresponsible…

Welcome Rana! I don’t doubt that no-one would come to Iran’s aid if they were attacked (except the disillusioned muslim youth, tempted by promises of paradise after martyrdom). But it is worrying that Iran is developing nuclear power/nuclear weapons, that is the problem with such statements by the Iranian President, Mr Adhmadinejad. And let’s not forget that he is that, the President, not just some cleric preaching hatred of Jews. He has some measure of power in Iran, so it is of some concern that he makes such provocative statements.
