The other day I was trying to explain the merits of blogs to my mother, who steadfastly refused to see it, saying she didn’t think blogs were good. Well, I think this is almost like someone from the 1930’s clinging to radio when the TV hit mainstream in the 1950’s. But today I was reading one of my favorite news sites, the (the ‘beeb’ in english parlance), and I saw this article.

It stated the current State of the Blogosphere which of course, is ’s view on the Internet world. Amazingly, it said that it was tracking 14.2M blogs today, up from 7.8M in March! Calculate that, it’s one blog created every second! Amazing! The amount of blogs are doubling every five months! And still, this is even as Chinese blogs are only really just beginning to take off, so this growth may still be maintained for some time.

While blogging per se really took off in English speaking countries, it has moved to become a worldwide phenomenon. France is taking off, China as I mentioned is experiencing a quick growth in blogs despite political restrictions, and as Technorati mentions themselves, there has been a lot of blog growth in Japan, Korea, China, and Brazil. This suggests to me, that the English language domination of the Internet is giving way to a truly multi-cultural and varied evolution. Will this trend of 80,000 blogs created a day continue? Stay tuned!
