Mel and I had a good laugh over a post she had written the other day at Balanced News Blog, about the 77-year old Egyptian President Mubarak running for a 6th 5-year term. Only under pressure has he relented and allowed multi-candidate elections, a “sign” of the beginnings of democracy perhaps? Or, perhaps not…
Because today, [...]

Woo! It’s the weekend which means … well actually it means nothing really since I’ll be working just the same. Maybe I’ll do a little more reading, I have a couple of books I’d like to finish off. I finished two new blogs off over this week: Web Standards Blog, where I talk about the [...]

There has been anecdotal evidence for years that cellphones cause brain cancers and the like, but that’s all it is, anecdotal. But as scientists will, research has been carried out on the type of microwave radiation cellphones use, and bovine eyes. They have found that it causes two kinds of damage, macroscopic and microscopic, with [...]

Great Britain used to have 200 offences for which you could be hanged (in the early-mid 19th century), from stealing a gentleman’s handkerchief, to the gravest offence of treason. But Britain banned the death penalty in 1971 (except for treason), but every so often the House votes on the death penalty and whether to renistate [...]

You know just as we kick start our nascent shuttle program back into gear and celebrate being back in the comforting grasp of well, nothing actually, the Russians announce that they’re planning on ferrying people around the moon for $100 million. Good god, the Russians are in financial difficulties with their Space Agency but they’re [...]

It’s a highly controversial subject with people on both sides of the religious fence involved, as well as contradicting opinions even amongst scientists. The politicans seem to be, at the moment, swayed mostly by religious views of life and it’s genesis. That’s why this article that I read this morning was encouraging news, and not just for the progress it has made, but for the hope that it will give to many people.

Many of the embryonic stem cells that are the source of the research being conducted today come from embryos from fertility clinics - those that are scheduled to be thrown away. People regard them as life, but if that is the case, why throw them away?

I thought that you might find this as cool as I do - the world’s smallest MP3 player - selling like hotcakes. It’s called the mobiBLU DAH-1500 (picture on the right) and it is VERY small! A very cool alternative to an iPod, that is for sure, I am thinking of getting one. You can see that Wal-Mart is offering it for $99 for the 512Mb version, not a bad price!

In response to the recent London bombings it appears that the have asked for new legislation giving the security services “powers to attack identified websites”. However it is not new, as the British Government, the European powers, and G8 had already planned such legislation.

I know it’s bad to laugh at peoples’ demises. But some people just get what they ask for, or maybe that should be get what they deserve. Either way, Vardan Kushnir certainly had something coming to him and some acted upon that. He was found dead in his apartment with multiple blows to the head, [...]

I saw this post on my bloglines feeds this morning, from Nuke Labour, and after watching it had to mail my friends and spread it around. So I thought I would blog it (as well as add it to the dailies above). It is a humorous interview at President Bush from Comedy Central, a 14Mb [...]
