It seems that scientists have finally achieved desktop nuclear fusion, and it’s not cold fusion! It should be noted that it did not produce more energy than was put in, but apparently they are working on that small issue ;) But, it DOES conform to known physics, it is not something radically new. The other thing I want to touch on is that the sonoluminescence experiments which have caused controversy, they are still working on that, which has promise.
