You know, when I a kid, in my teens, still slogging through school and hating pretty much every minute of it, I dreamed of a nice life with some work and the rest of the time just screwing around doing nothing. Life isn’t like that though. It seems that some of us (me included) actually enjoy working hard, and working every chance we get. That’s me to a tee: I get up at 6am, read my mail, do my adwords and commission junction stuff, then get cracking on designing. By the time 7 or 8pm rolls around I’m very tired, watch a few hours of TV then head for the bed (and boy, do I love going to sleep). There’s a lot more of us out there, like the TV commercial says, missing vacations, doing the extra few hours of work at night etc.,
But really, is it genetic, is it professional pride maybe? I don’t do everything I do for money, some of it is because I really enjoy doing it (although the mone would be nice!). The websites I work on are extensions of me in a sense, I give a lot into them and I do have pride in my work, showing my family, getting friends to visit etc., I think we’re all like that in a way, some more than others of course, but we are driven to excel, and maybe to compete against our peers.
